Stop Feeling Resentful

Ever catch yourself saying yes to something you don’t really want to do and then feeling instantly frustrated or resentful?

You agree to take on yet another project at work, accommodate your colleagues/boss/partners schedule or say yes to something you just don’t want to do.

Because if you don’t, who will?!

And then you wind up not feeling so great about it. Because your plate is full and why do you always have to be the one?!

Your energy is drained….you’re juggling too much and you’re saying yes to things that are actually hijacking your joy.

So what’s gotta change?

What you’re saying yes to!

In my book HH there’s an exercise called Choose Your Yes Wisely, it’s on page 147 (order a copy here). And it helps you to be more mindful of what you’re saying yes to so that your yes is actually in line with what  you want.

Here’s what you do:

  1. Set the timer on your phone to go off every hour.
  2. When it goes off, pause what you’re doing and ask yourself “what am I saying yes to right now?”
  3. Then ask yourself, “is this yes a match for what I want?”

If you catch yourself saying yes to things that leave you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, resentful or drained, it’s time to change those yeses around!

You’re always saying YES to something. Make sure it’s something that you actually want
