We are home from a great week at the beach. It was just the 3 of us enjoying some much needed relaxation time together. I posted a few pics on Instagram here.
It’s amazing – the transformation that happens when we have the space to just step back and be. We all felt so carefree and happy – simply enjoying our days and our time together. Not really “doing” anything – our days were pretty simple: sleep, eat, walk, play, and catch the sunset.
It was the best 7 days ever!!!
I was happy to come home, I like home, and the life we live, but there’s something so great about vacation – the simplicity, the connection, and the space.
Being home, we got right back into the swing (and busyness) of life. We even had a pipe burst Tuesday and because of a little bit of bad timing (or bad luck) lots of water to clean up in our lower level. It’s just the way life goes sometimes…
But this got me to thinking – how can we hang onto (or at least tap back into) that vacation zen?
It’s something I talk about a lot with my coaching clients when we’re goal setting and I realized it applies here too. Identifying how you want to feel and what action you can take right now to live into that experience.
I loved vacation because it felt simple, which allowed for me to be truly present and enjoy the day to day. I felt connected. I had the space to just be and to play. I didn’t feel pulled in a million different directions. My to do list was put on pause and my distractions were turned off.
So how do I bring my vacation zen back into my every day life? By focusing on connection – carving out space every day to just be and play. Say no to things. Only put the necessary “must do’s” on my to do list. Delegate more, and turn off my phone.
I’d love to hear from you – what would be different in your life if you could bring a little more vacation zen into it? Let me know in the comments below 🙂
Cheers to hanging onto that vacation zen!
