One of my favorite things to do is write.
As a kid I loved tapping into my imagination (I had 2 imaginary bffs – Collid and Stint – for quite some time…until they sadly jumped out of the window of our station wagon, quite possibly in girls bathing suits, never to be heard from again).
Creativity, imagination, and writing are what lit me up. It’s what made up my big dream.
There was a time when I believed writing would be my forever thing. That was until my sophomore year of college when my creative writing professor crushed my writing soul with an overhead projector and a red pen. There’s nothing quite like pursuing your passions only to be faced with someone’s perception that you essentially suck and don’t know what you’re doing.
Ever happen to you?
I shut it down. Creativity silenced. Desire turned off.
It’s taken quite some time for me to get the courage back to be putting my writing self back out there. It feels pretty vulnerable to share this piece of me that is so personal, especially since it has been so blatantly crushed before. But just like I teach my clients, you have to tap into those desires and go for it. Open yourself up and put it all on the line. It really is the only way to lead a truly happy and fulfilling life.
That’s scary stuff right there.
I want to thank all of you for allowing me to wade in the waters with my newsletter. Hearing that a piece of my experience or a strategy that I share has helped you keeps me showing up, sitting down and putting myself out there. You motivate and inspire me.
So I’ve taken the next big leap and published a piece of my writing on The Huffington Post. It’s called “Redefining Family” and it’s special to my heart. Check it out here.
It’s one of the first steps in my big plan to regularly submit articles to online publications, contribute to a regular monthly column and to publish a book in 2017. This is me living into my big dream.
I’d love for you to hit reply and tell me what you think.
Cheers to living into your big dreams!
P.S. Hit reply and tell me what big dreams of yours have been silenced over the years AND which desires you’re ready to reactivate. And if you’re feeling really frisky, let’s schedule a time to talk here to explore how I can help you step into them right now!
