Love notes…

heart2When I was a kid, my Mom would always pack my lunch with a note inside, “have a good day, love Mom.” Every. Single. Day. As a kid I always loved opening my lunch. As an adult I reflect on this with awe, receiving lunchtime love notes every single day…what a gift! What I recognize as an adult is that we all need to be giving and receiving love notes every day.

My Mom taught me this lesson and quite frankly I didn’t fully connect the dots until recently. The choices that we make every day are like sending yourself little love notes or loading up your inbox with hate mail. I often say that when you make food choices that are in alignment with you feeling good (happy and energized) this is like sending yourself a little love note. You are liquid love and you need to be constantly filling yourself up, replenishing your liquid love reserves.

How do you do this? Make choices that feel good. Not the cheap and easy quick fix kind of feel good, you know what I mean – short lived pleasure followed by guilt and self-loathing. Nope I am talking about the real deep down YES for your soul kind of feel good.

First, you have to learn the difference between the two.

Second, you have to consciously choose one over the other.

Every time you choose to eat healthfully or exercise or take care of yourself you are saying YES to you. You are sending yourself a little love note, “Hi, have a good day, I love you…xox.” And you are pouring in and filling up liquid love!

February is a time when we are inundated with love. Every time you hear, see or think about love, ask yourself what is one thing that I can do to fall in love with myself today? What is something I can do to fill up my liquid love reserve?

Sending you lots of love! xox
