Turning Lessons into Action

Happy New Year!!

So many people have been anxiously waiting for this year to end. And while I will say this year has been complicated at best, I’m not willing to put it into the “worst year ever” category.

A lot was brought to the surface—and it clearly needed to be—because you can’t change what you’re not aware of.

That’s true no matter what the subject—happiness, social justice and everything in between—awareness always comes first.

So what new awareness did 2020 bring for you? What lessons did you learn and new insights did you gain about yourself, and the world around you?

And more importantly, now that you have this new insight, what are you going to do with it?

Seriously. What one or two actions are you willing and able to take. Write those down now.

If you realize you’ve let your health slide—then maybe it’s time to kick the year off with a 10 day smoothie challenge.

If you realize that you’re passionate about creating a more just justice system—then hop on Google to see who in your community is already doing the work and how you can contribute (whether that’s your time, expertise or a monetary donation).

Take the lessons learned from 2020 and turn them into actionable steps for 2021.

And while you’re at it, make sure to toast to at least one good thing from this past year. Look for the bright spots—they’re there, promise. And it’s vitally important you see those too.

In the comments below, let me know one thing you’re celebrating from 2020.

Cheers to the new year!
