I’ve Fallen Off Track (Too Much Take Out)

IMG_0868It’s easy to do – to fall back into old patterns, to “self-sabotage,” to get “lazy.” It happens to the best of us, even yours truly. This winter, I had fallen off track with my healthful eating. Waaaaaaay off track.

I am not a lover of cooking (I sort of hate it), and I was quite comfy in my habit of getting take out. Life is busy…who has time to cook every single day?!

But here’s the thing, I had 15 extra pounds that were preventing me from feeling comfortable in my very own skin. My pants were tight (the button of one of my faves literally popped off!!!) I can’t stand it when my clothes squeeze me in all the wrong places. I feel restricted and uncomfortable.

And when I physically feel uncomfortable, my thinking travels to dark negative places and my mood takes a nose dive. Top that off with low energy, an upset stomach, and break outs. It’s not my ideal reality!

Then when coaching one of my fabulous clients, I was reminded of what I believe to be fundamentally true: food is the foundation. Eat like crap, think like crap, feel like crap.

Duh! How had I lost sight of one of my very own fundamental beliefs?!

Cold weather, dark days, and a shift in priorities, that’s how!

The moment I had my “aha” was the moment I made a different choice. I was ready to get back on track. It was easy to do once I made the decision to shift my priorities.

Here’s the thing with eating healthfully: it doesn’t mean no more take out, it just means a lot more home prepared meals. And when you do choose take out (or eating out) you’ll be much more likely to prioritize quality deliciousness that will be either a) totally supportive of how you want to feel, or b) well worth the splurge.

The great news is that when you are in the habit of eating mostly health-promoting foods, it’s a lot easier to hop right back on that healthy horse and trot down your path of feeling amazing. For me, that means about a 75/25 healthy/splurge split in order to maintain my ideal weight and feel really great.

I am committed to not only helping you find your perfect healthy/splurge split, but also to sharing some of my favorite simple home cooked food faves. You’ll receive updates direct to your inbox and via social media.

PS I am already down 5lbs in less than a week simply by eating more (not all) home cooked foods! Out of 15 meals, two have been out, and all have been simple and delicious!
