I was embarrassed – that’s actually not even true. Mortified feels like the much better word. Let’s go with that, I was mortified.
I was in the 7th grade and my grandmother was coming to visit. She had made me this dress – it was a long white sleeveless dress with maybe 1 inch colorful stripes on it. My mom thought it would be nice if I wore to school so that my grandma could see me in it since she was going to be there when I got off the bus.
I looked like Rainbow Brite as a Mennonite. It was awful and I was mortified.
Let’s be honest, in 7th grade, kids are not kind. They’re actually pretty cruel. This is one of my earliest memories of wanting to shrink into the background (although when you’re wearing a bright ass dress and have snow white skin and fiery red hair it’s super hard to do).
There was nowhere to hide.
It was official – I had earned my not at all cool status – which as a 7th grader felt like a death sentence.
Feeling a part of the group was important, it still is. Being on the outside – that sucks.
Have you ever felt stuck on the outside?
If so, I totally get it. I’ve been there and I know how hard it can be.
It’s one of the many reasons that I am so excited about the upcoming Be Seen, Beautiful Workshop.
I know first-hand what it takes to feel comfortable and confident in your own skin. And for many of us, myself included, it takes some work.
It is a process of letting all that past $h!t go and choosing to write a new story. One where you confidently embrace your strengths and your imperfections. And one where you are seen for who you are as you are.
If so then I would like to invite you to a very special workshop on December 3rd, Be Seen, Beautiful!
This is your opportunity to activate your very own transformation – one where you come out of hiding and step into your spotlight.
Your time is now and if you’re ready for the next step
