Do you ever feel alone, lonely or isolated? How about bored or disconnected? Do you find yourself lost in perusing Facebook to find out what people are up to?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, know that you are not the only one!
At times I find myself more connected to my laptop then to the actual people in my life. I’ve been known to turn to online shopping, Facebook, and random Google searches to entertain myself. I’ve multi tasked, talked on the phone while checking out at the grocery and walked and texted with no acknowledgement of the people I was passing…and I hate to admit it but I have placed my phone sitting next to me on the table when out to dinner (I’ve even responded to texts – yikes!).
I hear ALL THE TIME from my clients about a general sense of disconnection. They express a desire for more genuine connection with their friends, family, partners, coworkers and neighbors. People all over are craving connection (and a sense of belonging in this world!)
By taking the time to experience connection on a daily basis, you are not only changing your experience of the world but also the experience of the world for those with whom you chose to connect.
[bctt tweet=”By taking the time for human connection you can have a big impact on the world, just by doing this ONE thing!”]Wondering just how to connect?
It’s simple…put down your phone, look someone in the eye, learn someone’s name, say thank you, ask how someone’s day is going, simply acknowledge that they exist. Start to notice all the opportunities that present, for example when you go into to the bank, when someone opens the door for you, or when you check out at the grocery store.
We have no idea what someone’s struggles are, what their life is like and a simple “hello, how are you?” can impact someone in a big way!
By taking the time to connect, you will experience more meaning in your life AND you will be having a huge impact in the world!
