How to Achieve Your Goals in 2020

I love a good plan.

Seriously, as far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing quite like sitting down at the start of a new year and mapping out your vision for that year and then creating the goals that’ll help you to make that vision your new reality.

Best. Thing. Ever.

But since my 2020 plans were unexpectedly wiped back in March—like yours probably were too—I had to change up my strategy. I had to find a new way to create focus and movement while also coping with the stress, anxiety and grief that came with so much around me falling apart.

And most importantly, I had to do it in a way that allowed for me to be a calm and positive force for my young kiddo. Yes, he’s young, but he’s definitely feeling it too.

So I started focusing on monthly mini goals.

A mini goal is something that’s an easy yes. It’s important to you, easy to follow through on and you know that sticking with it for 30 days will positively impact your life.

You choose your mini goal based on how you most want to feel that month. Here’s an article to help you with that.

This is the same framework that I use to set goals for the year, just broken down so it feels more manageable during this stressful time.

With all the uncertainty that’s still going on—I most want to feel steady. That means I want to show up even keeled, grounded, calm, confident, consistent and at ease. I want to be the calm within the storm for myself and the people in my life—especially my young kiddo.

So when I think about a mini goal that will help me to consistently tap into that feeling, it’s going for a walk, each and every day—more specifically it’s getting in my 10k steps —rain or shine ☀️.

And the best part is, my kiddo helps me with this goal. Somedays it takes a little while as he switches from his scooter, to his bike to his tractor for each loop of the neighborhood BUT the goal is to do it and to enjoy it so I can tap into that steady vibe—there are no time limits or expectations of any kind.

In the comments below, please share how you most want to feel this month and what’s your mini goal to help you feel that way?
