Feeling Sleepy Thanks to Daylight Savings? Try this!

I don’t know about you, but this time change has me feeling all out of sorts! It’s soooooo dark so early that I’m basically ready for bed by 6pm (which by the way, feels way more like midnight).

And I’ve been hearing a lot of chatter that others are feeling the same.

So I thought I’d share my number 1 tip to help.

Don’t fight it! The more you resist your body asking you to slow it down, the more tired you’ll actually feel.

We live in a culture of “push through” and go go go which means that you develop these habits of pushing through and forcing yourself, of being busy 24/7, of not listening to your body and of ultimately ending up feeling completely burned out. This is your opportunity to do things differently!

We’re in the season of slowing it down and taking it easy – honor that.

I’m sure you could use a little bit of a slow down right now – so put on those fuzzy socks, make yourself a cup of chamomile tea and sit by the fireplace reading a great book (I’ve heard amazing things about Happiness Happens ;)).

It’s so important that you give yourself permission to slow it down and to take it easy. It’s okay to stay cozy in your bed for just a little while longer or to say no to the networking event or to take a restorative yoga class instead of your usual spin class.

Pay attention to how you feel and adjust your actions accordingly. Doing this will help you to maximize the energy that you do have – you’ll feel better AND you’ll be happier and more productive because of it. Win. Win. Win.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes in the comments below!

P.S. Be sure to share this post so all of your friends, family and colleagues who are drinking 16 cups of coffee just to make it through the day get that much needed reminder that it’s a-okay to take it just a little bit easier!
