Good Vibrations – 5 Tips to Boost Your Mood Now!

There are a lot of factors  out there that can impact our mood – food, exercise, work, relationships, news, traffic, life, weather, and even the phase of the moon!!! One thing that I’ve learned along the way is that the better I feel about myself and where I am at in life, the better I can navigate those other factors.

One of the reasons for this is because when we feel good about who we are and where we’re at (our core), we’re more likely to tune into and trust our intuition. We know what we need and respond accordingly. This is something that I work on a lot with my coaching clients. Not only do we look at ways to strength our core sense of who we are and what we want, but we also spend time identifying different strategies to help nourish and strength that key part of our being.

The 5 tips to boost your mood are all strategies to help strengthen and nurture your sense of who you are and what you want.

Not only will they let you dip into a feel good state as needed, but they also boost your mood baseline so that you are working with a more positive mood foundation.

Here are 5 tips to boost your mood now:

  1. Use power language – positive and present tense. This by far is one of the most profound shifts you can make. The words that you speak out loud and the words that are running through your head will serve you best when they are framed in this way. And above all else – stop picking yourself apart. Enough with the self deprecating self talk – stop kicking your own ass. It serves no purpose and is by far the most destructive thing you are doing on a daily basis – talk about a mood killer!
  2. Surround yourself with beauty and inspiration. We all want to feel inspired. By making this an intentional act, you open yourself up to all sorts of inspiration. As you find it, immerse yourself in it. Maybe it’s a blog you love. Maybe it’s a sunset. Maybe it’s a work of art. Maybe it’s another person. Maybe it’s music. Maybe it’s a combination of all of these or something different each day. There is a lot of really inspiring stuff happening all around us – sometimes we have to be intentional about seeking it out. What do you love? What makes you happy?
  3. Do YOUR thing. That thing you do that feels really good – when everyone else and everything else sort of fades into the background. When you’re doing it you feel like the most carefree and playful version of you. It connects you to that kid version of you. That’s your thing…maybe you have a few – do whatever this is as much as you possibly can!!!
  4. Create space. Way too many of us feel weighed down and suffocated by clutter. Clutter can take the form of events/activities that feel like obligations, physical stuff, relationships – anything really that feels like an energy drain. It’s a big distraction and major mood killer. People often think of clearing clutter as a big overwhelming project, but it doesn’t have to be. The trick is to
  5. Enhance, don’t hide. Use clothes, accessories & makeup as tools to enhance, not hide. Have some fun and play off your personality or your mood for the day. Feeling fancy, play with some lace or pearls. Feeling feisty, try out some animal print or bold colors. Showcase who you are on the inside on the outside.

ALL THE TIME I hear people talk about trying to “figure out” their purpose and passion and I ask them, what if your purpose was simple – to just live each day the very best that you could that day.
